The Dixie Metropolitan Planning Organization (Dixie MPO), is the designated agency, as established by the state of Utah, responsible for comprehensive transportation planning in the urbanized and urbanizing areas in Utah's Washington County, an area historically known as "Utah's Dixie."

The Dixie MPO area includes St. George City, Washington City, Santa Clara City, Ivins City and portions of unincorporated Washington County located within the Dixie MPO boundaries.  Member jurisdictions which comprise the Dixie MPO include Washington County, St. George City, Washington City, Santa Clara City and Ivins City. This web site provides information about, public notices and agendas for meetings of the Organization's technical advisory committee known as the Dixie Transportation Advisory Committee (DTAC) and the Organization's policy approving body known as the Dixie Transportation Executive Committee (DTEC).

DIXIE BUS RAPID TRANSIT FEASIBILITY STUDY

This study evaluated the feasibility of establishing rapid transit service between the City of St. George, Hurricane City, and the new St. George Airport. The study was commissioned by the Dixie Metropolitan Planning Organization (Dixie MPO) to examine Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) – a rubber-tired transit system similar to light rail, but with greater operating flexibility and potentially lower costs.

UDOT BLUFF STREET STUDY

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is conducting a 15-month study which will evaluate the 1.7-mile segment of Bluff Street (SR-18)from St. George Blvd. to Red Hills Parkway.

The Bluff Street Study will evaluate traffic operations, conduct public outreach, conduct an environmental analysis and present alternative solutions in order to provide transportation improvements along Bluff Street.

I-15 SOUTH ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT)  is currently undertaking an environmental assessment on I-15 in the southern portion of Washington County. The purpose of the I-15 South Environmental Assessment (EA) project is to prepare a study to consider transportation improvements to I-15 between Mileposts 0 and 16, a distance of approximately 16 miles. The project area runs through the City of St. George and Washington City.
